Snowdon photos

There are now pics of our climb up Snowdon in the British Landmarks section on our photos website. I've also written a piece for a future issue of PALS - I'm hoping these "special" pieces will start to make it into the newsletter a bit sooner than they have been recently, but more on that in a future newsletter piece... suffice it to say for the moment that it's likely to make it into a Wales special!

There are also photos of our hot air balloon flight, which (finally) happened on Thursday, to come - and pics will appear on Facebook in due course too. I just ran out of time (and energy!) this evening, so stopped after I've sorted the Snowdon pics!

Issue 23 on-line and website updates

Firstly, I apologise for being totally rubbish. I can't believe it's been over a month since I even looked at this blog. My only excuse is placement and uni; but they have taken up a lot of my time!

I have done a lot this evening though. First off, Issue 23 is now on-line and ready to view. It's not a special this month, so there's a wide range of articles. I have to admit that I've been pretty lax even with the newsletter, and it wasn't until this evening that half of it got written. I really wanted to make sure it was released on time though - I've managed it for the past 4 years, so I don't want to fail now!

I have also added a few photos - not many, but a couple to the British Landmarks and Aberdeen photos sections. Most of them were taken at a friends wedding a couple of weeks ago in Kent, so have gone into the British Landmarks section. The one you can see here is of Bodiam Castle - it didn't make it on to the Photos page, but it's nice enough!

Lastly, I've even managed to update my Avatar! The last one was a little out-of-date... but the Avatar should also be a fair clue that I'm unlikely to post to this blog again for a few weeks; I have four essays to write and hand in by 12th May (16 days away, not that I'm counting). Really I expect I should be working on them tonight, but my "excuse" is I want to get all the fun stuff out the way before I concentrate on them! As of tomorrow, you may not see/ hear from me for a while...

Phew! And Issue 19 is On-Line

I've just spent the past couple of hours actually working quite hard on PALS - I've uploaded Issue 19, which you can now read on-line, and I've also made a start on thinking about what will be in the next issue. It was quite tough because I wanted it to have some sort of celebratory feel (it being out basically over Xmas), but I'd already done a Festival Special. So watch out for a Press Release asking for contributions in the next couple of weeks!

I also wrote up a piece about Edinburgh and The Trossachs for a future issue - it's where I've spent the past couple of weekends, and I have to say, The Trossachs (woods and lochs near Stirling) are gorgeous.

Last, but not least, I've added some new pics to our Photos Website - just a few this time in the Scotland and British Landmarks section, again of both Edinburgh and The Trossachs.

Finally got around to doing some of this!

After weeks of failing to get anything to do with PALS done, I had a spurt of unexpected energy and have managed to not only begin PALS Issue 18, but also hassle people for articles on their wedding (sorry if you are one of them!) and update the photo page with some of the photos Dan took in Windsor back at the end of April - when we spent a weekend in London (see the British Landmarks Section of our Photo Website).

And Dan and I even did some wedding planning - we have created all our menus and even have a vague idea of where important people are sitting at the ceremony! Most people have replied to their invites now too; it seems that the people who can't come leave it until the last minute to let us know. Only waiting on 5 - 10 people now, which is pretty good out of 100 or so I think, considering they still have a week before the official cut off date.

Internet is working again!

After nearly 2 weeks without the net (honestly, I really missed it - never realised what a geek I had become) it got reconnected yesterday, so I've had a chance to do all the things I couldn't do in the past few days!

I've updated our photos page now, so all the pics people have been requesting should be there. There are photos in the Scotland section of our new house and a few of our journey up from London to Aberdeen (some of the house photos were taken after we moved all our stuff in, some before - you can probably guess which are which!), and there are some additional ones on the London Photos and the British Landmarks section, from our last few days in London.
I've also managed to write a lot of the next issue of PALS - it's a London Special so it was a bit of a trip down recent memory lane for me whilst writing it - I had plenty of time to do it as I still haven't started work! In a second I will need to go and add some photos as I didn't have them on my computer last time I worked on the issue.

Anyway, there's tons of stuff I haven't had time to do as I've only had the net for a day, so I'm going to go and get on with it all!

Bonfire Night

After spending a week recovering and a day at work, I've had a chance to sort myself out today. I've spent a fair amount of time organising a load of bits of paper for New York, because I'm going there for a week this Saturday. Can't wait! Only 5 days to go now...it's come around really quickly!

Yesterday Dan and I went to a fireworks display at Ravenscourt Park in Hammersmith - it was good fun and a chance to play with our digital camera (again). You can see some of the results on the British Landmarks section of our Photos Webpage .

Hope you like the photos on here - one is to get you into (although it's a bit late now) the Halloween mood - the cat was at a posh hotel in Sidmouth we visited last weekend for a birthday lunch. There's also a sample of the fireworks shots for you!

Run 10K

I spent the first half of today watching my friend do a 10K Run around Hyde Park - rather him than me! Luckily the weather was sunny and good for standing outside, which was a relief as we were half expecting it to be freezing and wet, and "watching" from a coffee shop! The picture is of David's group of runners, although he's not in it - he was going a bit fast for Dan to catch at that point!

We also saw some bizarre art (at least that's what we think it was) on the Thames; hence the brightly coloured photo of something odd in the river! I've written a short piece about the run which will hopefully slot into a future "London Special" PALS. I'm amassing a fair few "London" articles right now; maybe a newsletter for after we have left the city?

I also managed to update our Photos Website with some of the photos we took today; both the London Section and British Landmarks sections now have some new pics.

Productive weekend!

Well, other than the whole load of stuff I did on Friday for PALS, I've been productive in all kinds of ways this weekend.

I finally got around to scanning in and sorting out a whole load of photos - you can see the results on our Photos Home Page; the British Landmarks section has a whole bunch of new photos, and the Our Garden section has a couple too.

I also went to a wedding yesterday and have come away with a bunch of helpful ideas for my own next year; it's hard not to think about that when you go to weddings and are planning your own! It was a nice day regardless of that anyway though.

And I've also spent a while planning my trip to NY in November; as long as I can afford the (massively overpriced) hotels there! My pal has been great about organising tons of stuff, so now we just need to actually book all these things.

Our Photos

Dan and I have just spent half of today updating the Our Photos section of our website, so it now has a lot of extra photos on there, split into 6 sections - 'London', 'British Landmarks', 'Our Garden', 'Round the World 2003/04', 'Cornwall/Devon 2005' and 'Bristol Weekend March 2006'. Have a look at it to see the photos. Some of the sections, such as the Bristol Weekend, will be changed and replaced when they are no longer up-to-date, but others, such as 'Our Garden' are likely to be a more permanent feature. Hope you like the pics!
